OUR WHY
Van Winkle Designs was established in response to the need for specialized system designs in the educational market. We received ample feedback from teachers and directors that their lighting systems, sometimes brand new, were unusable for their needs. We change that by working directly with administrators, educators and staff members to develop a customized lighting system that checks all the boxes of educational needs. This approach allows for efficient use of time and resources to create sophisticated lighting systems that can be used by all.
Clay Van Winkle
Founder and Principal Designer
Clay has over a decade of experience in all areas of lighting design including theatre, dance, opera, architecture and corporate production. His experience as a former classroom teacher and high school technical director gives him valuable insight into the world of educational needs and allows him to provide specialized attention to his clients. Furthermore, his passion for education is the cornerstone of his work and allows him to focus on the primary objective of providing student opportunities and educator support.
